Mac OS X 10.5 The Newest Macintosh Operating System

When Apple first introduced a graphical user interface for computer users in its Macintosh computers in the 1980s the company has continued to evolve with various different types of Macintosh operating systems. The newest of these systems is that of Mac OS X 10.5. Also known as Leopard, this operating system is the main interface that is used on today's Macintosh computers.

This new operating system for Macintosh computers has been used since late 2007. It is the sixth edition of the popular Mac OS X operating system. This system features hundreds of different changes from previous versions of the program.

The biggest feature of this new operating system is its brand new Desktop. This features the unique Stacks feature. This displays files in a grid or fan style in a convenient list. This is useful for reaching access to the most often used programs, programs that were recently used or files that have been used in recent time.

The Quick Look feature is another convenient part of Mac OS X 10.5. This feature looks into documents and other files and gives previews of them so that they can be seen before they are opened. This helps to save time and computer energy.

Spaces is a popular feature to check out on this Macintosh operating system. Spaces works in that it allows for multiple desktops to be viewed on one computer screen. An individual Space can be used for entertainment while another is used for business and so on. This adds for a very versatile operating system to use.

The popular Safari web browser is included with this Macintosh operating system. It is now in Version 3, which is noted for loading pages faster than other systems. It allows for PDF files to be read within the browser and for multiple pages to be viewed at once.

Another great feature is the Time Machine. This works in that it keeps copies of everything used in the past on the computer and will allow for the user to restore files that have been deleted. The backup drive for the Macintosh will need to be larger than the standard Macintosh drive though.

64-bit applications can now be run on this program along with 32-bit programs. It also includes Ruby on Rails, which is a program that works for editing client-driven projects with the Ruby programming language. It also features easy to use and implement parental controls.

The Mac OS X 10.5 is a great program to use with any Macintosh computer. This Macintosh operating system is one that is convenient and is easy to use. It also includes a variety of unique features that are available only to Macintosh users.
