The Mac mini A Great Additional to Apple's Computer Lineup

Although the Mac mini does not look too large when compared with other computers made by Apple and other computer companies it is a powerful computer in a small package. The mini, which is one of the newest of the Macintosh computers, is fast and is amazingly affordable.

The Mac mini is the entry level form of computers from Apple in its Macintosh lineup. The computer is noted especially for its small size. A mini is about six and a half inches long and six and a half inches wide and is about two inches in height. It also weighs only three pounds.

The back of the mini contains a power switch, four USB 2.0 outlets, a DVI/VGA jack for the monitor, a 10/100/1000 Ethernet connector and a FireWire connector. It also features a power outlet that allows for the computer to be plugged in without using too much energy in the building.

All other materials that are used for a computer, including the keyboard, mouse and monitor, are all sold separately. This adds to the versatility of the mini though because unlike other Macintosh computers any type of these materials can be used as long as they have USB 2.0 support.

The mini is very powerful even with its small size. The mini features a 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It can also support up to two gigabytes of memory. An Intel GMA 950 graphics processor is also used to help produce top quality images for computer use. The processor features 64 MB DDR2 SDRAM memory.

The hard drive comes in both 80 and 120 GB formats. An optional 160 GM hard drive is also available. Optical drives are also used on the mini. The DVD-ROM drive reads DVDs at 8x speed and can write CD-R discs at 24x speed.

All sorts of software is included with the Mac mini. It includes Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard, the latest and best of the operating systems used by Macintosh computers. The iLife '08 package is also included. This includes top programs for Macintosh computers like iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD, GarageBand and Microsoft Office 2004 for Mac.

The mini is also amazingly affordable. The mini starts out at $599. It costs additional money for the upgrades that are available, including a larger hard drive or a greater amount of memory.

The Mac mini is a great computer to check out among the various Macintosh computers that are available on the market. The mini may be small but it features a strong processor and all sorts of great features that make it one of the best computers to check out.
